Extended Scrolling: November 26, 2023
Greetings, Extended Family! It’s E back (a couple days late 🤨) with another list of ten things that we're digging this week at The Extended Play Podcast:
Music:
Friday fun - R2D2 and C-3PO perform Owl City’s “Fireflies". This dude’s account is gold.
Because we can’t get enough Van Halen - Sammy Hagar was asked if David Lee Roth would be joining their upcoming tour, and things predictably got awkward between all parties. 🥶
I’m sure if I knew enough about music theory, I’d be able to explain that you could do this with about 1,000 song pairings, but I still found this comparison of Coldplay’s “Clocks” and Sufjan Stevens’s “Chicago” pretty fascinating. It helps that the dudes can really sing.
From the Episodes:
Well, that didn’t take long. Watch Metallica’s live version of “Through the Never” that E and Tank got to see live in Detroit. Great shots of the water tower screens. (From this week’s episode.)
Didn’t realize you can also buy the CD/MP3s of all of their shows on the tour? Pretty awesome.
“So You’ve Heard Andre 3000’s Flue Album - Now What?” - recommendations on what to listen to next. (From this week’s episode.)
On a lighter note, Leslie Jones is NOT down with the new album. 🤣
Pumped to go see Deafheaven perform their album “Sunbather” in full this week. Here’s a feature on the tenth anniversary of the album. (From our “Fandom” episode.)
Here’s a list of albums that singer George Clarke says influenced the album. Looking forward to checking these out.
Another reason The Hives rule - accurately assessing that there is not enough Hives to go around, they’ve asked cover bands to help canvas the world in The Hives. (From our “Experiences” episode.)
That’s it for this week.
